Malindi and Watamu sit side by side on the north coast, combining protected marine parks, Swahili history and relaxed beach towns with an Italian flavour.

Why go

Watamu Marine National Park and Malindi Marine Park protect coral gardens that are perfect for snorkelling, while the Gede Ruins and the Vasco da Gama Pillar tell the story of the coast's past. Watamu's beaches are quiet and beautiful.

How the trip runs

After arriving, you settle into a beach hotel in Watamu. Over the next days there is a glass-bottom boat and snorkelling trip, a guided visit to the Gede Ruins and a tour of Malindi's old town, with plenty of free time on the beach.

Good to know

Turtle nesting season runs from about November to March. The calmest sea conditions are usually between December and March.
